This Health Facility, started on 2001, were it was only offering eye services (as grand service) for almost five years, which was enough to convince and give us a way to go and establish new services like Out Patient, Laboratory and Dental services on the year 2005 and 2007 respectively, also a new IPD department which started officially on the year 2020 for the general treatments.
In our facility we offer services like OPD (Out Patient Services), IPD (inpatient department), RCH (Mother and Children Services), Dental, Eye, Physiotherapy and Laboratory Services.

Whereby we prevent, cure and rehabilitate diseases like ARI, UTI, Intestinal Worms, Amoebiasis, Pneumonia, Brucellosis, Fungal, PUD, Ear, Eye and Skin Infections, Hypertension infection, diabetes mellitus and hypertensive disorders etc. We have five (6) (Department) available as OPD & IPD department, Eye department, Dental department Physiotherapy department and Laboratory department. Also, for the inpatient department we are considering to have wards for Female ward and male wards, to which we have for now doesn’t satisfy inpatient department. The ward we currently use is only should be for the eye department as when they need them during eye operation services, where by ten (10) beds for Female and ten (10) for the Male In-patient.

To which for now we are sharing these wards with the Eye and IPD departments. EMMAUS Health Centre, has got its move and a real recognition of being such developing health center due to the recognizable efforts of our Brother and Friend ‘Kaka’2 Dr. Med. Beat Franz Ineichen. He is our good and big sponsor to our Health Facility (EMMAUS Health Centre) from Switzerland, since he visited to Tanzania since October 2012. As he came to Tanzania, he came as a tourist, and accommodated to our community, as he stayed, one of our community founder Sr. Maria Nicola get ill and Brother Beat Saw it. As a retired Medical Doctor from Switzerland, he loved to help and treat her from our facility (as a Dispensary at that time). He took her and like to take a fullblood picture so he can diagnose her, but alas! He found we have nothing to what he had in his head by comparison to how dispensary would look like.

He felt so pity and said, “I real get late to know Emmaus in my entire life, I wish I could know it before”. He gets back to his country and promised to help us when he’ll returns. As he planned and promised he came back on September 2013, and there he and his Rotary Club Entlebuch, together with his many friends, helped us to renovate and build our facility. They also give us Health equipment for OPD and to the Laboratory, such as full blood picture machine, Ultrasound machine, ECG Machine, Audio-Metric Machine, Urinalysis Machine, Lung Function Machine, Hemoglobin machine, Beds, Wheel Chairs, Office Furniture and more other health facilities.

We real say he is a good source for all the developments that we have at present in our facility such as, we had only three (3) member staffs but for now we have 18 staff members, though they are not enough compare to the services we provide. He also due to his help, we now able to treat and serve more than 639 patients per month compare to previous years that we served only about 130 to 382 patients per month. According to National plan of the Big Result Now (BRN) done to our facility on 19/10/2016 we raised our stars from one to three stars out of five this was due to his effort as well.

He is also a source of knowing and getting help from different people and partners from Switzerland and different part of the world as his friends, as family members, not only but also the government of Switzerland. He has made us to remember the beautiful and well understandable words of St.
Theresa of Calcutta, that; “Together we can do something good for God.” So, for what he has done, he real played a huge part to these moving steps of our dispensary developments which is now a Health Centre – EMMAUS Health Centre. So, we are humbly to say thank you Kaka Beat, due to your efforts to us. As you have a big, opening and a giving heart that helped us to open our eyes and see wider and wider, a truth coming dream, a strong and a developing Health Facility, of EMMAUS Health Centre.

Catchment Area and Coverage of EMMAUS Health Centre The district where our facility is found is Siha district, with the area size of 1,216.78 km², has 12 villages and wards (Biriri, Gararagua, Ivaeny, Karansi, Kashisha, Levishi, Makiwaru, Nasai, Endumeti, Ngarenairobi, Orkolili and Sanya Juu3), all these wards make the population of 116,313, whereby 56,500 of them are men and 59,813 are women, which is approximated to have about four (4) people per household, due to Tanzania census of the year 2012. Also, due to approximated censor reports of 2016 done by the Tanzania bureau of Statistics, Siha district has 60,598 of men and 64,151 women, total 124,750, to which in Sanyajuu Ward has 5,815 men and 6,286 women which makes total of 12,1101 population in Sanyajuu ward.

EMMAUS Health Center saves five villages (Merali, Ngumbaru, Majengonyati, Donyomurwa and Kideko), which makes a catchment population of 11,230 population, plus with this population we also receive clients from other nearby places like Fuka, Lawathe, Magadini, Majengo etc.

Therefore, with this reason we can save a large number of people to make our communities healthier. When our health center was registered it was under Hai district but now it has shifted to Siha district as it’s for the country’s economic, population, or rather politics needs to divide Hai district into two districts as Hai and Siha itself.

Therefore, the facility provides its services to saves five villages (Merali, Ngumbaru, Majengonyati, Donyomurwa and Kideko), which makes a catchment population of 11,230 population Also, for the period of a year, our facility can receive the population of approximated 712 patients per month to which is about 8,544 as total out patients per year, and since we have In patients cervices (IPD) we can receive 18 to 30 patients.
